Work experience, in its many forms, offers many opportunities for
strategic human capital management. For example, offering a placement
just one day per week will expose someone to real on-the-job experience
and learning, but at the same time it offers employers the opportunity
to be exposed to potential employees who may be returning to work after
a prolonged absence, looking at entering the work force for the very
first time or wanting to access exposure within a targeted working environment.
In times of skill and labour shortages, creativity in recruitment and
retention strategies, which add value and work toward developing a reputation
as an employer of choice, can have ongoing positive effects. To some
extent, people are like magnets and are attracted to what they see and
like! It works for both, those who are looking for particular experiences
and for those who are looking for particular people to fulfil job roles.
